CAVISION filters

Has anyone used the cavision 4x4 filters? I was looking into them, but am a bit skeptical for the price. They're insanely cheap. I'm specifically looking at the polarizer. Their site does not specify if it is a circular polarizer. I tried calling them and when I asked the guy over the phone and he didn't know.

I own the 3x3 polarizer. It works pretty good, although I haven't done as much outdoor shooting as I thought.
Watch out for import taxes to raise the price a little.

I use them ( I have several 3 X 3 and One 3 X 4)

They're acceptable to me and my needs. I just cant fathom $200.00 for one filter from Tiffen.

At my level; they're great

I have a set of 5 4x4 filters from them, and as far as I can tell, they are great. They come in nice velcro sleaves wraped in a nice soft cloth, they don't seem to distort or degrade the image visually. 5 filters for $200, including a polorizer, black pro mist, and three different ND grads, they are great.

hey thanks scharky, that is the set I was looking at. So no problems usingthe polarizer with the auto focus? I use auto for casual shooting sometimes.

Wow, that is cheap. That is less than I usually spend for a single 4x4 and much less than a 4 x 5.65. Are these optical resin or glass filters?

I use their 4x4 polarizer at all times on exteriors. It is glass (2 elements - 1/2 stop loss), linear and I've had no trouble with it. I've been after them to produce some non-graduated NDs and mists.

Wow, five 4x4 glass filters for $169.95!

That seems way to cheap to be even close to decent quality. Anyone do a direct comparison between these and Tiffen's or Schneider's?

Found this on Cavision site:

5 Filter Set
* Polarizer
* Soft Mist Black OR Star
* Graduated Neutral Density
* Graduated Blue
* Graduated Orange

I still wonder what that 5th filter in B&H kit is...

I think that is it. I don't know, I ordered mine directly from cavision. I havn't used the Polorizer with autofocus, infact, I don't think I've ever used the auto focus on the camera, at least not on purpose, so I really can't answer that, but like overland said, I keep mine on for almost all outdoor shooting. Khmuse, I have a Tiffen soft effects filter, but I don't really have anything to compare it to, as it is already "softening" the frame, all I can say is that when using the DVX with and without the polorizer and ND grads, I can notice no loss in sharpness when editing in post.
