I havent heard many people using this mattebox for the dvx. I read Jarred's review and got quite spooked that it vignetted at full wide necessitating the belows to be pulled back to a degree that prevented the bellows acting as an effective shade. I have been looking into the cavision 16x9 hard mattebox which doesnt vignette but of course it doesnt have the nice bellows.
What pro's and con's do owners of this mattebox found?

I use it and love it. The bellows can be in a position where they are effective and not vignette. I've had no problems to speak of with it and would recommend it.

That sounds great. Its interesting to hear from real life usage rather than one review. Its the best value real mattebox I've seen short of the Formatt one which was discussed ad nauseum and nil conclusions reached.

Can I just ask if you put your filter partway down the filter tray ,for example if you were using a grad nd filter and only wanted a part of the picture covered, then will you see the lower edge of the filter in your picture?

Has anyone tried using a wide angle adaptor with the bellows ?
I imagine it would vignette but to what degree?

Re: cavision 4x4 bellows mattebox

I haven't had any of the vignetting problems with mine since I removed the lens to shade conical adapter. What I found, and I'm sure it's been stated here before, is when I stepped down my ring size to 72mm and mounted the matte box directly to my UV filter I didn't have any problems at all. I think it's a great matte box and Jason is always there to help you out. As far as your other questions go, I don't know, I haven't tried them yet.

Re: cavision 4x4 bellows mattebox

Just to clarify, you can actually mount the shade directly to the camera lens without the conical ring? then what was it for if it only causes vignetting?

Re: cavision 4x4 bellows mattebox

Sorry, I imagine you would need an 72 to 85 adaptor ring to fit the shade dont you? Thats already in the kit right?
