Cause I'm an idiot

Ive worked with FCP3 mostly til I upgraded to HD.

Now the thing is, Im used to exporting as FINAL CUT PRO MOVIE for iDVD.
Now with HD, the export FINAL CUT PRO MOVIE option is gone, what is a good fast alternative?

Hum? I suppose you could be referring to what is now under

File/Export/Quicktime Movie (NOTE: NOT Quicktime Conversion)

This function is USUALLY used for exports that will be brought BACK INTO Final Cut.

I "think" that if you were to use this method that you would then be allowing iDVD to do all of your encoding and compression. Now with that out of the way... I would use Compressor or Sorrenson if you have it to do all your compression before hand as I would "assume" you would get better results this way.

Try it and see how it goes!

Good Luck

Stupid me...

Next time I should just try it before asking stupid questions here, thus staining my reputation. :)
But anyways, Will I be getting a nice and steady quality by doing this method?

And since I'm here,
Why is it when I do some Brightness/Contrast filters, some of the footage jitters in colors? this kinda happens when I slo-mo it.

And Another thing, sometimes I add a freeze frame to my project then output it to DVD. On TV, the freeze frame flickers like hell, how can I stop this?

Thanks a lot, your input is greatly grealy appreciated. If I know where yuou guys are, I'll buy lunch.

This is a frame grab rather than a doubled field grab done on an interlaced timeline. To avoid this, export to Photoshop and remove the NTSC artifacts. Also, do not try to grab a moving image unless you are in progressive mode.

That is because you are getting a frame that is interlaced so with the quick motion it has that flicker look. The best way I know of reducing it--though not making it perfect--is to use the "deinterlace" filter the freeze frame which should reduce a lot of the flicker. But as Slapdragon said, the best way from the start is to do it in progressive mode. Good luck!

Re: Cause I'm an idiot

In photoshop, is it the FILTER, De-interlace option?
if so, which one do I pick? odd fields? even? interpolate or duplicate? for better results?

Thanks

Re: Cause I'm an idiot

I am assuming you are talking to slapdragon. There is a filter in FCP where you can de-interlace the freeze frame. If you are using the picture in FCP, then there is no need to take it into photoshop unless you are going to do other stuff to it.
