For the last couple of years at my Film school, I've been working with the DVX100A and using a Cartoni Laser with it. I liked the setup quite a bit.
After graduating in May, I purchased an HVX200 and just recently got a Cartoni Focus. I like how the Focus's camera plates is locked on instead of having to be screwed on with a small and easy to lose mounting screw (cost me $40 when I lost the school's one). The two appear to be shaped a bit differently though i can't remember exactly how since I no longer have access to a Laser.
What confuses me is that, despite the fact that they are both weighted for 22 lbs and are roughly the same size, the Laser still costs $3000 compared to the $1500 for the Focus. What makes the Laser worth twice as much? What can it do that the Focus can't?
