So now you pay $7000 for a fuel pump, lol.

actually aren't all the new bimmers "free maintenance" brakes included? ... they charge a few extra k's for that nice little benefit.

btw: fwiw: mine is pictured in the avatar... until i learn to post a pic here... that as good as it gets.

cheers.

Here's the reason I said not to buy a new Chrylser:

car5.jpg

3 year old car. 1st year - paint cracking and powered windows not working. 2nd year - crappy heating. 3rd year - brakes warping, car shaking above 40 mph, chrome falling off rotting aluminum wheels, and the heater fan speed control breaking.

But it looks pretty.

Here's mine...not a sleek, sporty racer.... but an excellent production vehicle (e.g. holds a LOT of stuff!!!)

Hey Larry-

How do you like her? I was looking at one of those a few weeks ago. I went from thinking they were God awful to look at to kind of liking 'em, to wanting to give them a serious test drive. I saw one in the show room. Pretty slick.

I've got the exact same thing. Got it at a Honda dealer where I started shooting a weekly television show. On the first night I had our local special effects wizard come down to watch what we were doing, in case we decided to add effects and things to the show. This was on a Saturday night.

He saw my Element and said basically like what you said. If I remember the quote, it was "that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life."

Then I opened it up and started hauling out the gear. Had the seats folded up. Had that nice smooth flat floor that I could haul the jib arm in. He saw the headroom. Saw the interior space. He said "well, at least it's functional, but that doesn't make up for it being ugly."

Monday morning at 9:00 I got a phone call. He says "guess where I am?" Yep, sitting in the dealer's office, filling out the paperwork for a brand-new AWD Element. Even got it in the same orange color.

It's the ultimate production vehicle, and it sure does grow on you!

Scion XB is a pretty nice production vehicle too. Had a friend who had one of those. I'm still lovin' my Tc. Has just enough space for everything I need.

That's about the only downside about my SLK... No room for gear (or anything, for that matter). But I can always use my dad's supercharged Discovery (the thing is dusting in garage since he got ML55 two years ago), plenty of room there - Jarred can confirm :)

You said it Barry...it is the ultimate production vehicle. I recently finished a short film and carried all the gear, props, AD (my wife) and the main actress. The props included a garden table with four chairs. The gear included a garden cart (metal grate platform on pneumatic wheels, with a handle) used for a makeshift dolly and several 8ft 2x4 boards :)

As a vehicle, it rides very comfortably and handles very well. It is not a sporty vehicle, you can't race people with it. But it is very stable on the road and the AWD model gives you great traction on slippery/uneven surfaces. I'm not as tall as Jarred, but I am 6'1" and the headroom is wonderful.

Unlike most, I have liked the look of this vehicle from the very beginning. I noticed the new models don't have the black panels around the front, back and top. I think I like it better with them, but it looks a little longer without them. May help those who don't like the original look of the vehicle.

Hey Barry, I'll have to drive mine down to L.V. so we can get a photo together

Peace,
Larry

Here is a recent picture of me and my baby gearing up for a trip to the Alderan system (what a nightmare that turned into)

I saw those on the new site. I'm looking to get a new one when I relocate to NC, I want the 4wd version for out there. The painted-panel ones look awful IMHO; looks like a Chevy Astro van rather than the quirky, rugged Element. I've had the Sunset Orange Pearl since 2003, but I've seen the Khaki one and thought it looked dynamite. But I guess they discontinued that color. Too bad, really. An AWD Khaki with manual transmission would be just about perfect...

Let me know when, as I know two other guys who have orange ones, so we could get four across no prob!
