Carrie Fisher will appear in Star Wars Ep IX

Or, more accurately, her likeness will appear. The poor woman passed after shooting The Force Awakens, and thanks to the magic of digital manipulation, she will be back in the next installment. I'm feeling that this whole approach is not only morbid, but just greedy. She was only in a few scenes in TFA, and aside from a touching reuniting with Han and Chewy, really didn't add anything. Han won't be back, so there isn't a chance that they will reconcile and be a happy family. So how important will she actually be to the next story? Is digital grave robbing that necessary? Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

This is false, her digital likeness will not be in episode IX which has been clearly stated.

Recently filmed footage initially intended for 8 or left cut on floor will be repurposed with perhaps backdrops changed to insert her actual acting digitally into appropriate story scenes.

She is an integral part of the story; and given that episode 9 sales don't depend on whether Carrie fishers story arc wraps up well it seems like an odd thing to call it greed when the reality is it's probably going to cost them more money to do it honor.

And to boot, her family has given it their full blessing and support.

Ok, I was going on a 3rd rate news story. I know the family agreed, and I have not been given the chance to read the script. How is she going to be more integral to the story in the new film? I may have been a little harsh using the word greed, but I still just don't feel right about it. I felt the same way when Pepsi used Fred Astair ( I think that was the dancer) and other deceased stars in their commercials.

How is she going to be more integral to the story in the new film?

How would any of us know? We haven't even seen an Episode 8 *trailer* yet.

The little that has been released discussed how Leia would play a much larger role in Episode VIII & IX, and particularly in IX. No doubt that has had to be reworked, but given that Ep 8 is already written and filmed it has to be a tricky thing to rework the script of IX to fit the trilogy story. She is afterall the brother of Luke Skywalker and mother of Kylo Ren, and possibly even the mother of Rey depending on which theories you subscribe to (guess we'll find out in December).

Ok, so you have no issue with using the deceased in a film, when they aren't getting full credit or pay? I mean, it is very likely that I am completely wrong (Like it would be a first for me!), and her estate would get compensation. That would be a nice gift to pass on to her surviving family. I suppose they could have just recast her all together, which also doesn't feel right, but... out of 4 movies with the Hulk, they have had 3 actors. Kinda confusing, some fans complained (Yeah, me...), others were excited. I'm just tossing out my thoughts and questions of morality vs mortality.

Correct, in this context I have zero problem. Especially as an artist who would want the same done if I couldn't complete my own work
It's in a role and character which she (joyfully) agreed to play and certainly desired to finish, and more so with acting footage she already performed
All that has been said and released indicates that appropriate compensation would/will be provided to her family / estate. And I'm not sure what you mean by her not getting "full credit".

Most likely during the editing process the scenes she shot for episode 8 have been extended into episode 9. Most movies are massaged and shifted around in post, and certainly Rogue One was an infamous example. But even the original Star Wars trilogy had plenty of material shifted about. Hell, the original story outline Lucas first wrote in the early 1970s was to be a single film containing the story arc of what became the first three movies.

Carrie Fisher shot scenes for upcoming Star Wars movies and those scenes are being used. There can be some question as to the particular wording of a contract, but most likely her estate will be paid for her footage appearing in episode 9. I can't recall the details, but Blake Edwards wrapped a Pink Panther movie around deleted scenes of Peter Sellars from previous films. The film was released after Sellars' death and his estate sued for the use and won. The cast of Seinfeld (all alive and well) had contracts to be paid a boatload of money per episode in the final season. When NBC decided to make a highlights clip reel as the penultimate episode they (begrudgingly after the lawyers got involved) had to pay the actors for the episode even though all the material was from previously aired episodes. There are many, many more examples.
