Cardioid Lavalier/omni Lavalier

Hey again all,

Im about about to put in an order for a sennheiser G3 wireless lavalier. The only problem is or at least the most recent problem lol is that I noticed 2 diferrent kinds. One comes with a Cardoid Lavalier and the other with a Omni Lavalier. What is the difference between the two lavaliers? and which would be best for using to record a wedding ceremony attached to officiant of the wedding? thanks for any help.

A directional cardioid mic would be better in the case where you want to maximize the sound from the wearer, and reduce the sound (whatever it is) from around the mic.

OTOH, if you are trying to pick up several people (besides the wearer) a non-directional (omni) mic may be the better choice.
 
Thanks Richard. Yes I am definitely trying to pick up the 2 other people during a wedding ceremony besides the wearer. So by what you said I guess Im gonna go with an Omni. Thanks again.
