bring sticks, a lil steadycam, if you have it, and don't hesitate to have the owners tell you about their rides. You don't have to mic em unless a band is playing int he background and you'll find you can just stay on them as they speak then shoot their rides after the fact.
This is what I have specialized in shooting since the mid 80s.
have fun out there
So I did the show last night, it was the Black Tie opening night of the car show the philadelphia convention center. Really high end like free sparkling water, great band, free food.
As far as my shooting, there was no representatives by the cars. So I did a number of shots, did a lot of free style up close around the cars. I id some tripod panning shots. Did the mtv style zoomed and and zoom out fast shots... I tried something new, for the cars on the things that spin, just shot that for a few minutes on a tripod.
The thing that sucked is the HVX200 sucks in low light, my own dvx100b is much better in the same conditions.
yeah, indoor light can bag you sometimes. Flourescents are indeed fugly.
Day late and dollar short but if you crank it to 18db (ugly stick) you can shoot in lower light at the cost of some grain. Fine, in today's MTV age.
surf some of the clips by clicking my signature. You'll prolly dig some of the content.
post your clip when it's done too so we can check it out.
