We just started working on a hood mount and a hostess tray. Were gonna keep everyone posted on this. Hopefully this weekend it'll be done and it's simple and cheap. Round 15 bucks.
So i didn't have a computer all weekend. but we finished it. It cost us about 25 dollars all together but we bought a bigger sheet of wood then we planned before. Took about half hour to put together everything. We actually built two of them.
Here's the photos.
We have a hood mounted one we just finished making and i'll post that soon. we don't do alot of car shots but we were doing some dialogue in a car scene and decided since this was cheap might as well make it.
we use for the top part a cut up pool noodle to wrap the door and for the bottom we're using heavy cloth that we drape over the whole door. The pool noodle works wonders. the one in the picture isn't strapped down or anything. We're shooting with it this coming up weekend and should have pictures of it in use.
Mines made for being able to handle a larger head for a matte box with filters. Also able to put a flag on it to take the reflection down in certain shots. Since it has a bigger base for it.
Making it really wasn't hard at all and to mount it you just put it on the door. It hangs on it and then you ratchet strap it down. Simple enough.
Once it's made it's made. I think the girl also spent more time cleaning the car then it takes for me to mount the whole thing. Haha
