car headlights

im filming outside, in a village where there will be litle light apart from a few street lights, which i dont think will be enough to light my scene, and im wondering would car head lights be suitable? Im not worried about them being colour balanced properly or anything like that, just wondering if they will provide enough light to get rid of all grain?

Anyone tried this?

Thanks.
Kyle.

Spielberg did it first (all hail), and I am sure many have since. Headllights are fantastic, you just need big diffusers like the ones inside of this kit:

You hang these in front of the headlights, that will diffuse and unify the light better. No dough for these refectors? hang a white bedsheet on a PVC frame and prop it in front of the car. The Westcotts absorb a lot less light (hence the cost) but it all depends on the bank$$.

I have even used headlights for still photo lighting. The key is to diffuse the reflector pattern in the headlights, which is truly ugly, and in a dark scene can look horrific. Good for scary films tho:grin:

You sure could use them. Any light is good light when you find the angle that works.
