what is my best bet for a car charger out there?..some of them look kind of cheap.....

I don't own a dedicated car charger. However, I do have a power inverter that I can plug into the cigarette lighter, then plug my standard charger into that. I got a 400w inverter on sale for $25. When I'm not using it for the charger, I can use it to power a small light. Definitely worth the purchase.

that is a good alternative. and would give me additional options on lighting the car interiors....

The Lenmar Mach1 charger comes with a cigarette lighter adapter. It's a good charger to have anyway, regardless of the car adapter.
