Ok. So here I am. I currently own a 2001 c5 corvette, but have long wanted a Porsche 911 Carerra.
Does anyone here have any knowledge of these cars? I've been looking into them a lot and have been really surprised at a lot of the misnomers associated with the cars.
Many people associate them with being unreliable.
In 1998 I believe, when they went to a water cooled system as opposed to air cooled, 99% of their problems went away.
People say even an oil change costs a fortune.
This is partly true but only because you only get oil changes as part of your service. Every 15 thousand miles, and its $400. But it includes all of your maintentence.
People think they have short, worthless warranties.
Actually they have full warranty for 6 years, 100,000 miles!
I thought they weren't actually all that fast and only handled great.
Fact is they're nearly spot on with the vette for speed. 13.6 quarter at 105, compared to 13.5 at 106 for the vette. Both cars reach 0-60 in under 5 seconds.
Anyone else have any comments or thoughts on the subject? I'd like to find someone who actually owns one to see what they think of them and if they're satisfied.
