Capturing with vegas, going to 3ds max, and back

How would I go about filming a scene in 24p, capturing it with vegas, then go into 3d studio max add some post effects, then bring that back into vegas for more post/audio mixing?

Any specifics would be great. IE: What kind of project do I create, with what settings in vegas, framerates, etc.

well, what kind of effects are you adding with 3D S max?
If you wanted to export the file to a different program I would just use an uncompressed AVI file at 24fps. This will take longer to render, but you will not lose any information that way. However this entirely depends on what effects you plan to do in 3d s max.
