capturing vhs

I want to capture some stuff off some old vhs tapes. here's what I have.

vegas 5
canopus dv storm I (not being used currently)
some cheap ass firewire card that I use to capture into vegas
sony trv 900 video camera
jvc hd100 video camera

*I use to capture off vcr/vhs all the time in storm with storm edit but I'm trying to being a vegas guy. storm edit is no long installed on my computer actually. I have heard a trv900 can be linked up somehow to capture analog vhs tape.
 
Turn off device control.
Hook TRV 900 to FW card.
Set camera to passthrough the right direction... A/V --> DV out, not vice versa
set camera to VTR mode first

That should be it... unless you are in PAL land... where the cameras tend not to do this to avoid import tax on "VCRs".
