Capturing to Portable harddisk or latpop

Got a plan to conserve the run on my drum for my new camera. Just check out that a portable firewire hard disk cost about SG$2k? is there another solution? I plan to try to capture on my external powerbook G4 for my short film.

I've had good success shooting straight into FCP 5 via the Logging and Capture module. Set the capture device as a non-controlled device and use Capture Now in the module.

If you've got time or an assistant, you can easily name each take before shooting and go straight onto your disk, provided you've plenty of space!

cool. i been doing that. are u using fcp 5 ?
for fcp.
are there any special setting to take note?
as i used to using pd 150.
i will export through lossless 10bit and burn in idvd.
if i am recording in 25p, will there be any changes?
