Capturing Problems

This is a problem that occurs to me frequently.

I plug my firewire into my dvx, start capturing footage as I normally would - then the screen kind of freezes, the footage that is being captured stops moving and recording, but the tape on the camera is still going. Then the only way to get out of this is to force shutdown my computer.

Anybody else have this problem?

The problem you described may occur if you start capturing too soon after plugging your camera. Make sure to give Windows and Premiere enough time to recognize connected hardware. The status in Capture Window should confirm device is Online.

Sometimes Windows requires manual confirmation after you connect external device and it could cause confict between the system and Premiere when capturing is already in progress. To avoid it, wait extra 10..20 seconds before you start.

You can also try refreshing your Capture screen by Collapsing and Expanding. To do that right-click the Capture screen and select the function from the list.
