Capturing P2 footage as 23.98 ProRes 422

Hey there -

I'm trying to use FCP's Log & Transfer to import P2 files as Apple ProRes 422 at 23.98 fps. I select these settings in the L&T preferences, but when the footage finishes transferring it ends up being DVCPRO HD at 29.97 fps. Am I doing something wrong here?

What camera was it shot with? The ProREs L&T function only works with AVC Intra cameras. Otherwise you get DVCPRO HD and then would have to transcode to get ProRes.

And unless you shot 720p 24pN...or 1080i 24pA...you won't get 23.98.

Did you shoot 1080/24P or 720/24P? Try Reverse Telecine, but you'll have to convert it to get ProRes.

Prores isnt going to magic up DVCProHD footage. Id stick with the original format for edit. Its 4:2:2 iframe to start with and very easy to work with.

Shot on the HVX - Normally I would just cut in DVCProHD, but the rest of the project is ProRes from 5D/7D/NanoFlash - Reversing telecine and then batch exporting seems to work. Thanks for the help!

I'm mixing a project with DVCPRO HD 1080p footage and ProRes LT 1080p footage. Haven't had any issues.
