It has nothing to do with what you shot with, well sort of not. Sometimes with FW connected devices FCP doesn't quite get its auto-detect going to well (for NDF vs DF). So you just chug along, logging away, and you're actually logging with the wrong setting. It might happen for the whole tape, it might happen for just 1 clip, there's no real consistency.

The fix for it is quite easy. Highlight all the clips like you were going to batch capture them from an opened bin. In the Media Start and Media End columns, right click over any given clip's timecode value. There should be a pop-up window that says Drop-Frame and Non Drop-Frame. Change it to the correct value (double check by looking at the timecode values, do they have colon's or semi-colon's). For any clips over a minute in length this will alter the duration ever so slightly, but if you've logged with handles, or use handles when digitizing you should be okay.

cheers.

Dumb question: How do we know what the correct value is?

(I'm guessing Drop Frame, but I'm not sure.)

"Change it to the correct value (double check by looking at the timecode values, do they have colon's or semi-colon's)."
