So i am trying to capture a MiniDV tape that was recorded on the HVX-200. It was recorded under the setting "letterbox". When i capture the tape into final cut, I always get an image with black bars on the top and bottom of the image. I do believe to avoid black bars i should have recorded in squeeze mode on the camera. But however, when i play the tape in my deck that's connected to a 16:9 tv - the frame is full 16:9 w/ no black bars. Why would the connection to my tv work in full 16:9 but when in final cut, i can only capture video with black bars? Am i missing something? Any help will be much appreciated.
