Capturing HDV into Premiere Pro???

I downloaded the HDV presets from Adobe to capture HDV. I am capturing from the new Sony HDR-HC1. It records 1080i.

The capture process appears to go smoothly and correct, but when I put the video clip into a timeline and play the clip back, it plays almost normal for right at 12 seconds and then the footage becomes covered with artifacts and crazy blocks of color. I can't figure out whats wrong but would love some help... I checked the tape by playing it in the camera and it plays back fine.

Hi!

I have seen this issue with a Panasonic camera. The picture was distorted/blocky all the time with the Panasonic camera though.

The solution in my case was to replace the file mcdvd_32.dll with a newer version of it. mcdvd_32.dll is stored in C:\Program\Adobe\Premiere Pro 1.5

You can either mail support@mainconcept.com and request the file or download a copy of it here: mcdvd_32.dll (version number 2.4.13.0)

Important:
Before you replace it, close Premiere Pro and re-name the "old" mcdvd_32.dll to mcdvd_32.dll.OLD if you not want to overwrite it.

This is a long shot but it is worth trying. :)

Make sure you have the 1.5.1 update for Premiere. I capture off of my Z1 all the time and the footage is perfect. I also had to tell Premiere that the camera was a Sony HD tape deck. I open the capture window (F5) BEFORE I turn the camera on as well.
