Capturing DVCPRO HD vs Apple ProRes 422

I shoot with a Panny HPX-170, shooting in 720/60p. I met a gentlemen the other day that has produced some very nice work and he is always capturing using Apple ProRes 422 (shooting with his HMC-150).

I always just capture and edit in DVCPRO HD. I wont be mixing footage with other formats or anything like that. Is there any benefit to capture in Apple ProRes 422 over DVCPRO HD for me? Is there any benefit when working with slow motion (I will be doing some of that shortly on my next project)? What about for web use, any benefits between the two there?

From my understanding Apple ProRes will only really help me when bringing multiple codecs into a sequence. If there are other benefits, especially that relate to video quality I would love to hear them.

Thanks guys!

For DVCPROHD/170- not on the ingest side. It can be of use to you when you want to share projects say for color grading or visual effects though.

I'm mixing DVCPRO HD 720p footage (HPX-170 as well) along with Canon 60D footage that has been ProRes'd into the LT flavor. No problems whatsoever. I'd stay native.

Ok, great thanks guys. So I should just stay native with DVCPRO HD and if I do shoot with anything else (just got an email from a good friend that shoots with his Canon 7D, lol) i can just use a sequence in FCP that is and Apple Pro Res 422 sequence right? I should be able to bring them both in no problem as long as the sequence is Apple ProRes... right?

(Thanks for the tip Noah)
