Capturing DVCAM Footage

Hey guys,

Just finished a shoot yesterday shot on a Sony PD-170 using sony DVCAM tapes. Does anyone here have any experience capturing off DVCAM? I don't have the PD-170 available to me for capturing, so I'm probably gonna have to rent a deck to do it, does anyone know what decks will support the DVCAM format tapes? Thanks.

The DSR 20 or 25, the DSR 40 or 45, and the DSR 30 all handle DVCam record or playback, and the cheapest of the lot is the DSR 11, all by Sony. NO problem.

Also any Sony DV camcorder can play back DVCAM, as well as some JVC products (like the BR-DV3000 deck) and the DVX can play it back too.

Barry, by any chance, do you know if the lower end Sony TRV models will play back the tapes? I have access to 2 of those, I just didn't want to put the DVCAM tape into it in case it might mess it up. Thanks again.

In my experience, pretty much any Sony DV camera will play DVCAM. Some panys do to, but not always very reliably. Canons ....just don't got there!

Awesome, thanks guys, I just tested it and it plays back fine. You guys just saved me a bunch of time and some $$. Thanks alot.
