Capturing audio only clip

I have been trying to capture some audio only clips with my dvx100a and am having no luck (FCP is saying I have a problem with my tape). Could some smart person give me some pointers on capturing audio only or tell me how to separate audio and video into separate clips? Thanks.

I dont know anything about FCP, or macs..but in premiere, you can right click>unlink audio and video. But considering macs lack a button there is probably some way to do it with unlinking them.

But then again i could be making a complete fool of myself..thats my only guess.

Re: Capturing audio only clip

File > Log and Capture.
Click on Clip Settings Tab in logging window.
Select Audio Only from popup menu.

If you capture both you can always delete or disable the video. (Cntrl-L links/unlinks audio/video in sequence timeline)

If yo ucan't contro lcamera make sure it's turned on in VCR mode and everything is plugged in and set for FireWire.
