Capturing analog VCR thru DVX problems??

Can you or can you not use the dvx as a digital intermediary to capture from a VCR via rca jacks and out the firewire? I only get an image on the lcd and on the computer monitor when the vcr is paused. As soon as I hit play, the screen turns blue. Am I missing something on the settings on the DVX? Thanks in advance !! ;D CAVEMAN ;D

Well are you using a VHS tape that is copyrighted? If so the DVX might block the signal from passing thru. FCP should be set to non-controllable device and you shouldn't have to record at all with the DVX, it should just be sent through it.

I don't know that i have tried this with my DVX as i always use my cheapo Sony Handycam to do all of that digitalizing. The sony doesn't seem to block the video from just passing though. Although it will not allow copyrighted video to be recorded directly to the camera's tape.

I hope you can get it to work.
