Capturing 23.98 on the AJ-HD1400 into FCP

Hey there.

This situation has been killing me for a while now, here's the circumstances:

I am capturing from the AJ-HD1400, footage shot on the Panasonic AJ-HDX900. I don't have a Kona card. I want to capture at 1080/23.98 via FireWire, but for whatever reason the deck only seems to want to capture at 29.97.

Does anyone have any experience with this deck, i've never used it before and i'm becoming very confused.

Alternatively, If this is a Pyrrhic effort, what is the ideal method for converting the 29.97 file to 23.98? I have tried converting through Compressor, but the resultant file has some pretty nasty motion glitches. I have heard maybe After Effects is cleaner, i also have access to an elgato turbo.264 hd.
