Captured video unclear: pixelated/clear lines

Captured video unclear: pixelated/clear lines

I am a bit stuck editing a short film, be grateful if you could please advise.

My DVX100a 16:9 (used anamorphic lens) 25 fps progressive camera footage is fine in camera, but appears unclear, i.e. pixelated with jaggedlines around bright
areas of subject (actor) when I view it on the Vegas 5 preview screen.

My project properties are set to:
Field order: none
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.4568 (PAL DV Widescreen)
Motion Blur: Gaussian
Deinterlace method: None
Frame rate: 25,000 (PAL)

Could someone please suggest what I may be missing, or doing wrong.

Many thanks,
Michael

Best (full) makes no difference.

When I "play" the jpg snapshot on the preview screen it is okay too, but the video in the preview has jagged edges on subjects and transparent pixelations.

The rendered video has just the same terrible jagged edges around the subject and pixelation as the vegas preview window. It's strange the jpg snapshot is okay, but video is jagged around the edges.

Please advise how I could rectify this problem.

Regards,
Michael

I played it in Windows Media player and it showed the same problems as in Vegas, but the footage is okay when it is played on TV direct from camera.

Windows media player has trouble with deep bass (audio) and it also plays back footage at a lower resolution than you would find on other programs that are better fit for playing quality footage...You will get an even higher resolution on TV than you would on a decent quality program...I've had the same trouble as you, but it always looks good on TV. Don't be worried.

Windows Media Player should have absolutely no trouble playing back AVI files at full resolution, unless you have a problem in your system.

The problem was that the "acceleration" software setting on my video card was on the slowest setting. I shifted it to the fastest setting, and the problem of pixelation and jaggedness disappeared, but thanks for all the suggestions.

Regards,
Michael
