capture straight to FCP6

when I try to capture from the HVX to FCP6 on my 17" MBP. i open the capture and log window, and hit capture now. then it comes up and says "waiting for timecode" so I hit the record button on the HVX, and it captures about3 frames and stops saying it's captured the whole tape. what am I missing?

you need to press play, not record. If you are using the the P2 for the HVX you need to use Log and Transfer, if you are looking to record live video straight to FCP bypassing tapes and P2, then go to the capture settings, i thnk that is what it is called its the farthest tab on the right in the capture window and set your device to non-controllable device then hit capture.
