Capture stops after 18 mins and other questions

Hi there,

I am using Win 98SE, Premiere 6.0. Recently started editing with Adobe Premiere 6.0. When I start capture from my camcorder to the computer, The capture stops exactly after 18 min = 27000 frames capture. Any way to increase this. I wish to capture my entire one hour mini dv tape at one go.

Also, after it is caputured in an avi format, I was unable to copy and paste, and make a back up of the same avi file captured. Was really strange and am wondering why that happens.

And one last one :)

The footage captured was of 288 x something, is this resolution good quality? I wish to edit and export it back to my camcorder but do not want to lose quality. I use a firewire card to capture from the camcorder to the computer.

Thank you once again in advance. I am really happy with my decision to have chose a DVX100 and enjoy its features.

..what format is your drive formatted in?

Fat 32 have a limit at 1GB files. Use Windows XP and NTFS, its have no limit. Your HD is the limit in NTFS :D

..not to be corrective, but FAT32 is limited to a maximum file size of 4Gb .
anyhow.. yes. you need to run the NTFS file system for unlimited file size.

Thank you very much guys!! I will move to the NTFS system.

SharpShooter - To answer your 288x??? resolution question. It's not great. If you're goal is to only create web content then it will be fine. But the DVX deserves 720x480. Satisfy the DVX and the DVX will satisfy you. If you continue at 288x I am afraid your camera might leave you for another man.
