Capture Settings set @ 720x480 but Quicktime File is 853x720

i am capturing footage shot on DVX-100B, i set my capture settings to
720x480 in FCP yet the quicktime movie clip are always 853x480 which creates
this anamorphic image on my timeline.

Can you describe exactly your capture settings- i.e. frame resolution, codec, anamorphic settings, etc. If you use the Easy Presets in FCP you should have no issue. Also bear in mind that the QuickTime Player often displays the incorrect resolution for some clips- so it's not the place to check shots. If they are correct in FCP you're fine.

my custom capture settings are:
frame size 720x480 NTSC DV (3:2) Compressor: DV/NTSC Anamorphic 16:9 unchecked
FPS: 29.97 Quality: 100%
As for Quicktime, the 853x480 size is making my clips look anamorphic on the timeline and
on the final output. if i resize them in Quicktime to 720x480 then they become 604x480 in FCP which still sucks.
