I am very confused:shocked:
I recently got a dvx100b and for the first time started shooting in 24p
I dont know what to shoot in 24p or 24pa
and when it come to capturing my footage I am lost. I thought I was fine at first just capturing in the standard settings I used to. but I am def doign it all wrong.

In FCP or Express

-When I start a new project/sequence what do I set it to? 29.97? 23.97? 24?
-When Im capturing 24fps footage do I capture in 23.97? 24?

Also when someone says a "24,30 or 60 timeline" what do they mean? sequence or project settings?

and what about pulldown removal? how do I do this and where? Is this neccessary to get native 24p on my timeline.

I read this but still have confusion

he says to capture 24pa at 29.97. but what about the timeline?
 
If you read that post carefully everything you need to know is there. Don't over think things...

final cut express does not have any sequence settings or capture settings, and my final cut pro 5 is failing on me. what do i do?

'Failing'- what does that mean? Is this is a legal copy or... :) FCE cannot edit at 23.98 so forget about that route.
