i've been capturing via firewire. i was looking at my HVX yesterday and don't see an option for capturing USB 2.0 into Vegas neither did i see an option in Vegas 8.
so, how do i get Vegas to recognize capturing using USB 2.0 ?
If you're trying to capture from tape, the only you can do it is over firewire. That's the same as capturing from any DV camcorder.
If you're trying to transfer footage from the P2 card, you do it over USB in Windows -- that's what Barry referred to -- but you don't do it through Vegas. You can do it just through Windows Explorer (copying over the entire Contents folder intact), but it's best to do it through P2 Viewer or another specialized P2 offload app.
Keep in mind, this is not "capturing" -- the files are already in edit-ready form on the card. This is just a file transfer, like between any two drives.
thanks....i was trying to capture from tape via usb 2.0. i was also thinking of what do i do in the field with a laptop without firewire if i'm doing SD ?? how do i get it from tape to Vegas ?
At least not as DV (some software might let you capture something very low-quality over USB), but probably not at all. And you definitely can't do it with Vegas.
You can get a firewire adapter card for your ExpressCard slot, though.
