Capture problems...

I'm having loads of problems capturing decent footage to my computer. The captured footage looks fine on the screen of my capture deck (Sony handicam) but when I capture through Vegas it appears to be much darker and lacking in contrast. Another thing, when I hit 'capture' the footage in the preview window darkens for the duration of the capture. I have just changed the firewire cable but there is no difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're comparing what it looks like on the DVX' LCD to what winds up on your computer...yeah, it'll be very much darker.

If you don't have a field monitor, turning down all three settings in the menu for the LCD until there are just 2 bars will get you a lot closer to what-you-see-is-what-you-get.

What you're seeing the difference between footage viewed on a TV and footage viewed on a computer screen. They're not the same thing, so footage looks different.

You'll find you'll get the footage closer if you drop "Studio RGB to Computer RGB" from the Color Corrector presets onto the clip.
