Capture Problem!!

Ok I am having a problem capturing my MiniDV tape onto FCP. My Scratch Disk is an external Hard Drive that is Formatted for OSX and is Journaled.
Basically what is happening is I will try to capture now, and after a few seconds the frame on the computer freezes and it searches for a time code break (where there is no time code break). It is very odd. Is the Hard Drive being Journaled the reason for my problem????

The weird thing is that when I switch the Scratch disk to my hard drive on my computer everything works fine...The problem is that I have no space on this drive...

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

This is a common problem when capturing to external firewire drives that have little storage space available. If your internal drive is full you will need to back up your media to make space or get your hands on another drive.

Yes also when having any kind of virus software turn no, you need to turn it off in order for it to work properly with FCP.

But It works when I capture on to my computers hard drive. Its the program somehow. I dont know what to change though. I can capture to my computers hard drive, but there is not enough space...

I found out in the Apple Forum that to fix the problem I needed to delete and reinstall quicktime. Weird since that I already the latest version...
