Capture Problem

I'm having a problem that just started recently and I'm hoping somebody can help me with it. I capture video from a Lexar flash card into Final Cut using a card reader. In the past I could capture clips of any length with no problem but recently I can't seem to capture more than 3 minutes of a clip before it goes to the next clip and starts capturing it. It's not a space issue because I can capture short clips (less than 3 minutes) all day. It seems as if something is limiting clips to about 3 minutes in length. Has anyone else ever experienced this and what did you do to fix it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm confused. What do you mean by 'capture'. Typically flash cards are inserted into the card reader on the computer and the files copied from the card to a drive. Then the files are just imported into the NLE. There's no real-time 'capturing' involved.

Do your files import into Final Cut?

I say capture. Comes from 20+ years of working with tape. Yes, clips, or files that are shorter than 3 minutes will import into FCP. If a clip is longer than that it stops importing, copies part of that file and then goes on to the next one. I'm thinking about swapping drives to see if that makes a difference.
