Capture Problem

I can capture about two minutes of footage, then everything starts to freeze up and I have to Force Quit FCP. Does anyone have a quick fix for this? I'm running a dual 2.0 G5 with 1GB of ram, and Final Cut 5. I'm sure more memory would help but this seems a little weird for just capturing footage. Am I missing some setting or something in preferences to help with this? thanks for any help. - Franch

Try doing a batch capture, its a pain for logging purposes but it's a way around maybe, also do you have time code breaks? anyway batch capture or capture now might help you out, good luck.

I'm sure you've tried restarting and running disk repair, but if not, sometimes that all it takes is to clear the Macs head a little. Good luck.

Been researching this problem as I'm having it too. I read on the 2-pop forums that trashing prefs may work to aleviate most problems. Haven't tried that yet. But here's the thread:

It seems to be the same problem we are experiencing. But I don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. It never happened before until a week ago. I did install Quicktime 7 but downgraded back to 6.5.2 to see if that helped but it didn't.

Some suggestions include: capturing straight to an internal drive NOT an external FW drive, creating a new FW bus by getting a new FW card, possibly making the FW chain shorter, capturing to faster drives (SATA) and Trashing Prefs.

Gonna try the latter first and be back with an update.
