Capture problem on FCP - capture stopping

So i left a 30 minute tape to just capture since i didnt really need it in seperate clips. I went back to check the footage and it turns out the tape is ****ed up. The audio spikes then cuts out every 10 seconds or so. Once the audio spikes all the way up to silience it cuts the capture.

I dont need the audio from this tape at all, but i do need the vidoe footage. I want to just go through and have it capture without stopping, no matter what errors final cut things it has encountered. I thought that just doing 'capture now' would do that for me, but it didnt.

Any ideas?

Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. THis could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.

try capturing with the non-controlable device activated instead of fire wire dv ntsc

Open your capture window, in the right corner click on capture settings and try to put the device control on non controlable device. you have to push play on your deck before capturing

had similar problem before when capturing tapes recorded on a sony camera on my dvx , using a cheap sony camera or a proper dv deck it worked fine.

aha! This footage is from a GL1

Use the same camera it was recorded on to capture it. Clean the camera heads, could be a grime problem.

I'm having the same fu*^ing problem and I've been fighting with it for days now. Anyone know what's going on? It stops in the same exact spot every time. Thanks for any help.
