Capture Problem - cannot activate recorder

Hey all. I'm having a problem with premiere pro 1.5.1. When I try and capture any footage from my camera I get this error:

capture_problem.jpg

I tried it on the generic setting, then set it to my camera, but neither worked. I've been all through settings trying to find something, but to no avail. Vegas captures fine. Windows Movie Maker captures fine. Ulead captures fine. It's just premiere. I would really like to fix this since it's so convenient to capture right within premiere.

I've also tried reinstalling my firewire card, but that didn't help anything. Neither did reinstalling premiere.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

make sure the camera is hooked up and turend on BEFORE YOU TURN THE COMPUTER ON- firewire is not hot swap, and it may not register the camera correctly if its connected imporperly. try leaving the camera on and do a ful shutdown and restart of the computer . make sure camera is in VTR mode and not camera mode and has enough power if it running of batteries. and check your firewire connection.

anyway , are you capturing from a sony?

I've tried both unfortuntely. I have also tried doing an actual reset of the camera (depressed the button).

I am capturing from a sony trv-27. I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary really. The camera is on external power and switched the VTR mode. The wierd this is that it works properly in all other programs which has me believing it's a problem with premiere.

What service pack are you running and second you can try using a program called Scenalyzer to do your capturing. I never used this program but I heard it works great. I think alot of people here uses it. I've yet to try it because I'm looking for another alternative besides using preimere. I don't alway want to open premiere just to capture.

I'm running service pack 2 and am as up to date as possible (always try and keep on top of that). Is it possible an update may have messed around with it? I wasn't working with just 1.5 so I tried updating to 1.5.1 even though it doesn't claim to really enhance anything I'm using.

I've thought about Scenalyzer and am seriously considering it, but it would still be handy to be able to capture within premiere.

Cellular - When you click on "options" under Device Control a new window pops up with a button that says "Check Status". If you click that button does it say "offline" or "online"?
