Capture playout of time line ?

I'm trying to think of a way to get edits to my client faster. Timeline is 1920x1080i AVCHD. What I do is render my timeline, then export as a high bitrate Full HD Mpeg2. This gives me something I can encode outside of Adobe Media Encoder. Then I'll create a 720x400 WMV, about 10MB per minute rate. Then I upload that to the client's FTP. They don't need anything of super quality at the early stages, but there's always that time involved it getting _anything_ off the timeline.. it really sucks.

Last project I got had 40 minutes of interviews, just put the camera files on a timeline, added a transparent clip with timecode and then freaked out because how long it was going to take to do these renders.

Renders, I might add, that I didn't need done. My rig is plenty good to play the timeline and a layer or two of effects in real time. But I had no way of recording that playout short of going through Firewire DV -> DVD recorder, copy VOB off disc, trim ends, encode to WMV. Only worth doing with really long projects.

My next step is to start using proxy files for my footage. HDD space is a non-issue for me.
