Capture Issues.

I am trying to capture footage in final cut express using a Panasonic PV-GS300. The footage that I shot was not originally shot on this camera, it was shot using an older Sony shoulder mount camera from my school ( I don't know the model off hand). The panasonic happens to be able to play back the tape just fine but when I try to upload the video to fce, every time there is a break in the timecode from stop and starting the recording, fce "unexpectedly shuts down". Any idea as to why?
