Capture in 24pa

I was reading the board for FCP and there was a message about how to capture 24pa. It said you had to set it for 29.9. That got me wondering if I was doing it right in Vegas 5/6 as I don't recall doing anything special. I know there's a 24pa setting somewhere that I have set (everything I do is 24pa...otherwise why have a DVX100a?) but now I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing, something else I need to be doing. Can anyone help me out here or am I going to have to go back to the books and DVDs?

Do NOT worry about FCP and all the crap you have to go through to use 24p on it. You’re using VEGAS, baby!

Just capture and drop into a 24p timeline. (24pA or 24pN.) That’s all you have to do. Just use default settings and you’re golden.

You can use the same captured files to work in 60i if you wanted, also.

Thanks Dave ! That's a load off! Everybody keeps telling me how wonderful FCP is and how Vegas is for amateurs. So I figured if it was drama in FCP it must surely be more drama in Vegas. I guess maybe Vegas has a few advantages after all,,,,

Lesson one: never, ever, believe what a Mac snob tells you about anything on a PC without checking into it yourself, especially if it’s bad.

Love it! There is a bit of an attitude I notice with a lot of (but not all) Mac users. Kind of like a lot of (not all) people who drive BMW's, Mercedes, etc.
