A friend of mine gave me a tape of a teaser he wants me to edit and im trying to capture footage shot with the xl1 with the dvx100a and final cut keeps on telling that he found errors and stops the capture and the sound just keeps on cutting on playback... Any idea how to capture that tape??

thanks

Can anyone confirm for you that the tape is okay? Has it been put into a proper VTR and checked? No point in looking at any software solutions until you can be provided a certainty that the tape has no physical flaws/defects.

cheers.

The tape was capture and they did an edit with the footage. Is there something different with the 24p from the canon camera and the dvx100??? It was shot 24p widescreen

If it's a Canon XLH1 and it was shot in high-def then it won't play in the DVX.

If it's a Canon XL1 tape then it'll play in the DVX but it won't be 24p.

If it's a Canon XLH1 and was shot in DV mode then it should play in the DVX. Canons are notorious for having limited playback compatibility with other brands, we've always seen threads where XL1 tapes won't play back in a Sony etc, so maybe you have that issue. In cases like that it's best to play the tape back on the camera that shot it.
