So of course my Matrox card won't talk to my new motherboard. So before I rush out and replace it, I was wondering what my options are. Are there editing cards that are cheaper allowing rt effects with preview out? What types of cards are you people using? My motherboard is an abit as8 with one gig of ram and a intel 3gig p4. any recomendations? I don't really want to sink $1,500.00 int matrox pocket if I don't have to!

Thanks john...I have convinced the old Matrox card to play ball, so I'll see over the next while where the glitches are if any

Walk the dark side and get a Mac. You wont have to worry about computer problems agian.

I guess I could have gotten a Mac and I would have had an 8 thousand dollar hole in my bank account. This way, I upgraded a few parts for $500.00 and have a smokin hot machine again. I'm not daunted by a few hardware issues that I have to overcome to achieve my goals. I also like the satisfaction I get from actually putting something together myself from the ground up and having it all work, I can look at this machine now and know that I was the one who made it go, not some team of engineers in a lab somewhere! When it comes to my computing, I'm way too hands on to just take the easy way out and just get something that just goes for reasons I'll never understand. The new machine lives and scattered around the floor of my den are enough parts to build two more systems that will all come together to be a bank of PC networked splendor. Just so you understand, There were no issues with my PC's, I just decided I wanted to go faster! One day, when I can't think anymore, I'll cetainly get a Mac.

Sorry....I mean video editing card, which for some reason I refer to as capture card.

I guess that would explain all the Mac help websites. I read one recently where a poor guy said he had a virus and was looking for help. He described the symptoms, and they were all the classic symptoms of a virus – slow performance, hard drive issues, icons doing strange things – but instead of help, all he got was a wall of “there ARE NO Mac viruses.” Reminded me of “Doctor Zhivago” where the commissar kept insisting that “there is no starvation in Moscow.”

Actually, there was no typhus in Moscow... ...but yeah, same thing. No viruses here, either. It's called safe sex (ehm, computing).

I love Macs, but I hate the blinds Mac people constantly put over their eyes... for that matter, I hate any blinds any people put over their eyes.
