Capture and Sequence Presets

I was wondering which capture and sequence presets I should be using when importing footage from my Canon XHA1 HDV camera into Final Cut 7.

I've shot all of my footage using Canon's own HDV 24f frame rate, and because it's not a "true" 24p (like what Panasonic uses) I was told that I should be importing at "HDV - 1080i60" which Final Cut recommends using when shooting source material at 29.97 fps. Is this right?

Some of the camera settings I used when shooting were:

SIGNAL STD - HD
FRAME RATE - 24f
COMP. OUT - 1080i/480i
IMAGE SIZE - LW 1920x1080

Obviously, I want to import the footage at the best possible quality so which presets should I be using for the log and capture?

Some of the options are:

HDV - 1080i60
HDV - 1080i60 FireWire Basic
HDV - 1080p24 FireWire Basic
DVC PRO HD - 1080i60
DVC PRO HD - 1080pA24

Any thoughts..?

The XH A1 24F gets recorded to tape as true 23.98 frames per second. This doesn't mean that the CCDs are actually capturing this, but there is no pulldown for HDV 24F. You'll want to have your sequence set for 23.98 FPS, although I'm not sure about capturing this. I've never done it before, I've only used 30F. I think if you use prores, it will automatically figure out the framerate, since within the HDV to prores capture preset, there are no options for changing the framerate. My 30F stuff always comes out with no field dominance and I put it into a 29.97 FPS timeline with no field dominance, and this happens without me having changed anything.
