Just got a firewire 800 drive to use as scratch disc. Audio isn't being captured along with video and I don't know why. Camera [XHA1] is connected to Macbook Pro (latest model) via firewire, hd is connected to laptop via firewire 800. Video captures perfectly but there's no audio-- shouldn't it come in automatically along with the video? In User Preferences the "Sync audio capture to video source if present" button is checked. Don't know what else to check. Thanks for your help!

The "Sync audio to video..." is NOT going to do you any good. Turn it off. It is only for capturing audio and video from two physically specific devices, as done in a film set-up.

What are your capture settings?
 
Thanks for the reply. That sync audio setting was the default setting anyhow- I didn't change it. Regardless, the audio is captured now- what I did was start all over, and interupt the capture during bars and tone by hitting escape, then restarting the process (clicking play and then "now")- that's all I did differently and now it works- go figure.
