Capture AIC for HDV 24P footage?

Hey,

I've captured a stock footage reel using the capture preset AIC for version Final Cut Pro 6.0.6,

Is this a recommended preset for capturing HDV footage shot on SOny HVR-Z5U. Or should I consider maybe Apple Pro Res or regular HDV capture.

I just wondering the pros & cons of this method. This would be the start of footage for an indie music video shooting 1080-24P-HDV I'm putting together.

invite any suggestions.

thanks

I'd just go HDV as you can't put back information already lost to HDV in-camera compression.

FCP 6.0.6 supports 1440x1080 ProRes422 capture from HDV TAPE -- AIC and HDV seemed sluggish to me when I first got those types of tapes to edit...
And Color 1.0.3 disliked working with HDV sequences.

My recommendation is using HDV Tape to ProRes422 captures.... I successful printed to HDV tape afterward as well via firewire.
It's cute it makes continuous files TAPE-01-01,TAPE-01-02 so you don't have to set any in and out points. There are guides on the net on how to do this.

I hate to push apple codecs onto people, as they get that lock-in factor, but the ProRes codec is very optimized to perform very well on apple hardware and is tested well in all of apples apps and mature enough not to get nervous.
