Capture 24p in 29.97 timline?

Why do you capture 24p in a 29.97 timeline?
What is the purpose of having an option for a 24p timeline if you don't use it for 24p?
 
use the 24p timeline, if you have all 24p footage/24p(a) mainly.

29fps timeline, if your trying to mix footage, correct me if im wrong :)
