Capitalizing ITEMS / PROPS in a spec script.

I have come across conflicting advice on whether to capitalize significant objects / props that appear in a script.

I have been told never to capitalize objects.

I have also been told to capitalize an important object the first time it appears (much like a character). eg. David walks into the kitchen and trips over some SHOES. He falls and hits his face on a VASE, shattering it...

Any advice is appreciated.

Typically capitalising objects are used to assist with set design and inventory for the scene. I apply capitalisation of objects in the shooting script for those in the production team inconjunction with the camera direction.
