Can't scroll event, projects stuck

I can load an event, but can't scroll and view it in the browser.
When I create a project, beach ball spins indefinitely, and need to force quit.

I first had these problems a month ago, suddenly out of the blue, which brought my work to a grinding halt. I decided to abandon FCPX and wait for another update.
Today updated to FCPX 10.0.2. Didn't help.
Next updated to OSX 10.7.2 (was 10.6.8). Same problems persist.

I'm feeling something on my computer must be conflicting.
Any suggestions about what may be causing these problems would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Update: I am now able to scroll through an event, and create a project without crashing.
I think the key was trashing my events and project folders after updating to 10.0.2.
(I had previously tried this with 10.0.1 without any luck).

There are others on this forum more qualified to comment on this than I am, but my guess would be that by trashing your events and projects folders, perhaps you were also trashing media that resided in those folders. Too many open projects and having a lot of clips accessible by FCPX can cause slowing of the app. Some reasons may still be related to a bit of bugginess in FCPX and some may have to do with background rendering that takes place, or just plain too many footage clips from several projects that are still in the events folders. There is a lot of info about this on other forums you may want to look into and Apple has some recommendations for moving completed projects once you are done with them.

I have also run into the stuck skimmer, losing focus between event and viewer, etc., but after offloading many projects and deciding to keep only a few at a time in my library, things work better for me. I have had to trash preference files once, but never since, and never the actual events and project folders.

I recommend trying each of these steps one at a time to see if it fixes an FCP X problem. If a step fails to fix a problem, move to the next.

1st, highlight each Event and Project one at a time, go to the File menu, delete the render files (this updates FCP's database about them, so don't do it manually in the Finder).
2nd, download the free "Preference Manager" from Digital Rebellion (.com) to properly and safely and quickly trash your FCP X preference files.
3rd, run Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and Repair every hard drive connected to your Mac.
4th, last resort, run Disk Warrior and repair the directories on all attached hard drives.

As for the stuck playhead thing, I see that often, and simply using "S" to turn the Skimmer on and off always fixes it right away.
And always keep folders and Event closed up in the two libraries when not in use, and before quitting FCP X.
