Can't Render as QuickTime!

I'm getting an error message when I try to render my 95 minute film as a QuickTime .mov. It seems to be rendering for about a third of the movie then it stops (with nothing ending up being rendered) and the message says "Make sure you have write access to the file/folder and that there is enough free space." I've got 90 gigs free, which should be enough and I've rendered the movie as .avi and .mpeg2 with no probem. Is the problem the "write access to the file/folder" and what do I do for that? Thank you.

Check to see what option you're using under the Quicktime.mov file render. If you're choosing uncompressed/unconstrained, or anything similar you may be trying to actually render to more than 90 GB. Trust me, when I render my 5 minute short as an uncompressed AVI, it comes in at nearly 10 GB.

Accordingly, if yours is uncompressed, you could be coming in at nearly 195 GB!! Try using one of the QT templates to compress it some. Also check into the new h.264 video codec in QT7 Pro. In my experience, it'll take an extra step to render (first to an AVI file, then export out of QT7 Pro as a .mov file), but it'll be worth it to have a better compression than QT 5 or 6 can offer through Vegas.

The QuickTime render template is set for Default. I don't see anything in that window dealing with compression. In the Custom Template, in the Video Tab, there is a Compression Depth selection of 32bpp color. Is that what you're referring to?

Perhaps you don't have Quicktime installed on your system? Try reinstalling QT (download the new QT7 player - FREE) to see if that helps. You should have multiple templates available under your QT option, just like you do for WMV, AVI, etc.
