Can't import spanned clips from P2 Camera Archives

My workflow normally starts by creating camera archives from these P2 cards and only work with the camera archives from there on. However I'm hitting kind of a strange effect now. I have two P2 Cards with one clip spanning the two cards. If I try to import something from the according camera archives everything imports fine - except the spanned clip. Neither part is imported.
If I import from the P2 card directly (or from dmg images I created from the cards as a test) the spanned clip just imports fine.

Did I miss something obvious?

Thanks,

Udo

When you copy the card to your hard drive, don't just copy the folders. Use software like P2 Viewer or Shotput Pro to do it. They will stitch together all the spanned clips so that you don't have to worry about it on import.

Thanks for the hint. This was one of the very first mistakes I did - luckily enough the shot wasn't important.

However I didn't copy anything manually. I used the camera archive functionality builtin into FCPX which preserves the file structure as seen on the card - however it seems that FCPX can't read spanned clips from the archives it created :)

Importing the spanned clips from the original P2 cards (or from 1:1 images I did on my own) works fine though.

Obviously FCPX is able to handle the import of clips spanning more than one card (or it's image) - just not if the content is in camera archives FCPX created. Which IMHO makes the whole concept of FCPX camera archives obsolete. Why should I use FCPX camera archives (instead of real images) if FCPX isn't even able to fully use the archive it created in the first place?

Thanks,

Udo
